According to authorities, the rock band Cage The Elephant’s lead vocalist was detained at a hotel in New York City on Thursday on suspicion of possessing a weapon.

According to the NYPD, 39-year-old Matthew Shultz is accused of two counts of unlawful possession of a loaded gun and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Around 10 a.m. on Thursday, a call to 911 reporting a person in the Bowery Hotel with a firearm was received, according to police. During the execution of a search warrant, officers found two loaded weapons, according to the police. What what prompted the 911 call is unknown.

Cage The Elephant, a band that was founded in 2006, released their fifth studio album in 2019 called “Social Cues,” for which it won the best rock album Grammy in 2020. The group received the same honour for its album “Tell Me I’m Pretty” in 2017.

Both the band and the hotel have been contacted by CBS News for comment, but no one has responded as of yet.
